for one offering perfected to the extent all, to carry through the ones consecrated (Hebrews 10:14)
Some key words in the passage can totally change the meaning or understanding of what the writer of Hebrews is telling us. Actually three words and phrases: perfected, "carry through", and consecrated. Let us examine these words further guided by a spirit of wisdom and revelation. The purpose of such is so we see truth that brings us forward to the goal of coming into existence, perfected, or into mature adulthood, the measure of that stature (quality gained by growth; development; being conformed to the image of Christ) is the fullness of Christ. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified (Hebrews 10:14)
The above is mostly how this verse is translated, which has a total different meaning. It is stating by the offering of Jesus he has matured us, that there is no working out of our salvation, or growth opr transformation, or progressive sanctification, you are already sanctified forever. Th Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) gets it closer "For by a single offering he has brought to the goal for all time those who are being set apart for God and made holy." Being brought to the goal is key in understanding.
now, you exists from him in Christ Jesus, who became our wisdom from God; and these righteousness and sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30-31)
We get Jesus is our righteousness and redemption, but what about our sanctification? Redemption was by grace through justification, and justification was through his blood (the one sacrifice) and we receive justification by faith. Thus we receive justification, and justification through faith. But also Jesus is our sanctification, the word ἁγιασμός (hagiasmos). We see sanctification and consecration have the same root word meaning "holy" but they are different in meaning.
carry through (bearing forward) the ones consecrated (Hebrews 10:14)God chose you before he created the world to be holy and blameless in his presence in love (Ephesians 1:4-5). God made you alive spiritually and raised and seated you spiritually with Christ (Ephesians 2:1-4). We await the salvation of you bodies so we are working out our salvation, that inwardly so we bear fruit of being like Christ externally. There is this distinction between out spirit and soul, and Peter writes the goal of faith is the salvation of our soul. God had an eternal purpose hidden in the beginning, now being manifested in Christ. Those he chose he predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.
now, we know because all work together for good to the ones loved of God, the ones he called according to his purpose, because those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son... (Romans 8:28-29)
not because I already am perfected but I press on if also to take hold (receive, obtain) to the extent who also Christ Jesus accordingly took hold of me (Philippians 3:12)
