you keep him in perfect peace whose mind stays on you because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.*
Those who trust in the Lord know he is an everlasting rock, for He is a strong city, tower, a fortress in whom God has set up salvation, in whom the righteous enter by faith. As David said: "The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer;"* When David was pursued by Saul and the enemies of Israel for many years, over and over again his life was on the line. David did not trust in himself, he put his trust in the Lord, his song of deliverance speaks to us today, saying the Lord "He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the rock except for our God?"*
There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one besides You! And there is no rock like our God.*
What can we boast proudly in when the storms of life enrage around us? When we face our own mortality? Surely, it is within the storm that we find out what we have built our life upon, in whom and what we have put our trust in. This is why the trial is a proving, a testing. Can we say we have put our trust in Him? But we can within the storm, for He is our helper. "I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth."* And He is our refuge, "let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in Him; let all the upright in heart exult." * So those who trust in the Lord sing truly, "Rock of ages, cleft for me Let me hide myself in Thee." He is a shelter and refuge for those who love Him.* "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”* For "when I am afraid, I will trust in You.* For "His faithfulness is a shield... because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague comes near your tent..." Truly, those whose trust is in the Lord can say, "the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble."* When the times get tough, trust in the Lord, but make Him your rock always trusting. The strong have their trust in the Lord. So cry out to him, oh Lord, my God, my rock!
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.*
Peter was sifted by the devil, so that so he would be strengthened, and so strengthen others.* The strong in the Lord have been sifted, strenthened in the Lord, they stand on the rock. Whom and what is a rock besides our Lord? "For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ."* And to whom shall I put my trust? "I will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge and fortress, my God, in whom I trust." * "Whom have I in heaven but you? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside you." Those who trust in him we will say, "He is my loving devotion and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge."* Again speaking of trust in the Lord, "He is a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head."* So will we say, "O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction,"*
The Lord my rock, I say, you are my fortress, my stronghold, my shield, my shelter, my refuge, my deliverer, and my salvation, the one in whom I put my trust.
The Lord my rock, I say, you are my fortress, my stronghold, my shield, my shelter, my refuge, my deliverer, and my salvation, the one in whom I put my trust.
