Jesus; The Beginning of Wisdom and Knowledge

in whom exist hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.*

It is a fine sounding argument that wisdom might be attained elsewhere, even the beginning of, but it is in Christ Jesus we put our trust, not leaning on our own understanding but wisdom, and understanding in knowledge of Him. He is preeminent in all things, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. He is the Word of God, Word of Life, and Eternal Life that was revealed to us. His words exist Eternal Life. The Law came through Moses but in Jesus Christ came grace and truth. Under the Law fear was the beginning of wisdom and understanding thus the Law had fear of punishment, but it did not perfect men into righteousness because of the weakness of sinful nature. In Christ we have power to overcome such weakness and in Him is all wisdom and knowledge. We proclaim Life and Light to the world, Jesus, the beginning of wisdom and understanding and its continuation.

Now these, the ones called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power and wisdom of God.*

Paul writes the Church at Galatia fell from grace and severed themselves from Christ. We know they went back to a works justification under the Law, and were no longer being led by the Spirit. As Paul writes if you go back to one part of the Law you are obligated to adhere to all of it. So if I go back to the Law do I follow Moses or Jesus? Can I follow Moses and Jesus if they are separate covenants? Why is the Bible separated in two Testaments, Old and New? Are we not released from the Old and bound to Christ in the New? And if you go back to the old have we not severed from Christ, seeking wisdom from the old covenant, neglecting the new covenant established in the blood of Jesus?  Is the Word of God to be believed over the words of Moses? Surely the body of Christ reflects the mind of, wisdom in Christ, the goal being to attain to the full measure of the statute of the image of Christ through the knowledge of Him.

to influence, by the Word of God, the mystery, that hidden for ages and generations but now has been revealed to his saints, those God chose to make known... the one we proclaim, mindful to all and teaching all men, in all wisdom so presenting all men mature in Christ. To this end I strive according to the power in me.*

Is not the deception Paul dealt with in the early Church, of doctrines being introduced into the Church that basically went back to the Old, seeking wisdom from the old covenant, neglecting Christ as the source, the beginning and end? Is it not clear He is Head? Christ we proclaim, the mystery hidden in and which God has revealed to us. This is what is being proclaimed through the Church, Jesus Christ who is wisdom and understanding. And we strive to make known Jesus, teaching and making mindful of such, presenting all men mature in Christ. Those mature are no longer tossed to and fro by deceitful scheming, they are being perfected truth in love until mature, Christ like.

so that your faith doesn't exist in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.*

The concept of maturity, of growing up into our salvation exists in the new covenant. This is perfection in truth, the bond of love leading to perfection thus it is perfection or maturity or truth in love we grow up into Him. This is why Paul writes we are under grace as it is being a new creation that counts and we are strengthened through faith energized in love. God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and a sound mind. The Law did not perfect, it did not mature men to be obedient because of the weakness of the flesh, therefore fear doesn't mature though God might use it to awaken us out of our slumber. Now, being rooted and ground in faith and love we grow up into Him, truth in love. God demonstrates his kindness to us in Christ Jesus though we existed dead in trespass and sin He was rich in mercy through his great love for us. We receive from the riches of His grace adoption, redemption, the forgiveness of sin. Jesus condemns not us, but sin in the flesh, so the body in which sin dwells is dying but we who are spiritual are being raised into newness of Life. Jesus has given us the power to overcome sin, thus we rule over sin, this weakness of the flesh under grace as it is God's power at work.

"The beginning of wisdom is to fear God and the knowledge of the Holy One, understanding.*
We know as Peter confessed that the words of Jesus are eternal Life and that we have come to know and believe that He is the Holy One of God. Thus as Paul prayed our eyes have been opened, enlightened to the knowledge of the Son. This knowledge of the Holy One is understanding revealed to us by the Spirit of God. Jesus is wisdom from God so we look at all scriptures in this Light of a New Covenant established in His blood. When we do we have better understanding of this verse. If Jesus is wisdom from God then is not believing in Jesus the beginning of wisdom and understanding? Yes, this is what matters, our faith in Jesus and as John writes iterating such wisdom, the same commandment exists together in importance, that you believe and love one another."*
What do we proclaim? Jesus is the Holy one from God, Jesus is Life, the Word of Life, whose words exist Eternal Life. Therefore we proclaim Jesus is wisdom and understanding from God. "Rather, we speak the wisdom of God, the one hidden in mystery and that God had predestined before the ages for our glory."* And "you exist of Him in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and these; righteousness and sanctification and redemption."* When we proclaim Christ we proclaim these things and all that does not lead us to life and godliness is as nothing. We are led by the Spirit to abide in His words thus we will not bear fruit without abiding, all else that doesn't mature us is as nothing, not beneficial to us in regards to life and godliness. The Old was a shadow of things to come, including the laws of tithing, in Him is the true tithe, the show bread that all who exist in Him as priests eat from, living bread, food that endures unto everlasting Life.

Now, seek first his kingdom and his righteousness...*

Jesus is the Way, Truth, and the Life. Putting first His kingdom and his righteousness is about putting Him first. Or it is about what perfects us into becoming like Him and everything else is as nothing. True tithing is not about money, an unrighteous thing. The priests of the old were not perfected by partaking from the tithing, from that offered at the altar of God of earthly substance, if so Christ would not have needed to come, but this was a shadow of things to come, that righteousness would come through drinking his blood and life through eating his flesh. The living bread would give us Life and perfect us, so we share in His holy character which is sharing in His glory which comes through food that endures unto life. Surely, not tithe of money. The fruit of life and godliness will not be poured out nor overflow from heaven because you tithe and give money. But seeking first living bread, that freely given without cost, and all these things will be added unto you.

these things we write so that your joy exists complete.*

Just as life doesn't neither does joy come in tithing and giving but as John writes and proclaims to us it is found in the Word of Life, Jesus, in whom our joy is made complete. That from the Old covenant, like circumcision of the flesh, living to the Law, serving and sacrificing, tithing and giving, doesn't mature us to become like Him, in His image, thus these things are not our reasonable service, nor our high calling, nor highest forms of worship to God. These do not perfect us so if we put these things first we say the opposite, that we do not seek first bread from heaven and have not consecrated our hearts Christ, Lord. God has made Christ preeminent in all things thus wisdom and knowledge begins and continues in Him. So we pray that you be enlightened in all knowledge and wisdom from God so that you may comprehend these things.

The Tripartite Nature of Humanity: Spirit, Soul, and Body

The Tripartite Nature of Humanity: Spirit, Soul, and Body in Biblical Understanding The human being, as depicted in the Bible, is a multifaceted creation, often understood through the distinct yet interconnected components of spirit, soul, and body. While some theological perspectives lean towards a bipartite view (soul and body), which we do see in the Old Testament, a careful examination of the New Testament scripture reveals a compelling case for a tripartite understanding, where each is divided into or composed of three parts. Let’s explore the biblical distinction between spirit, soul, and body. The Body: Our Earthly Vessel The body is the physical form that interacts with the material world. From the very beginning, Genesis 2:7 states, " Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being ." This verse clearly establishes the body's origin from the earth, emphasizing its connec...

Blessed Are The Forgiven

Blessed! the one whose lawless deeds are forgiven and the one whose sins are covered over, blessed is the man whom sin, the Lord will not consider . * Paul writes David foresaw and spoke " blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered . *  Blessed, is the one whom sin is not considered, this word considered  means "to credit, count, reckon, to set down as a matter of account; regard, think, consider." This blessing comes through faith and according to grace, " also David speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God considers righteousness apart from works ." *  The word for  lawless deeds speaks of the violation of the Law and the word for sin  speaks of missing the mark of God's righteousness. Blessed are those who (by faith in Christ according to grace) have been forgiven. In Him receiving the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of trespasses according to the riches of His grace . * This fundamental ...

The Promises of God — The Promised Eternal Covenant

God’s Eternal Purpose Enacted: The Promised Eternal Covenant When Scripture speaks of the New Covenant, it does not describe God improvising after human failure, as though redemption were a divine contingency plan B. The New Covenant is the historical unveiling of something older than history: God’s eternal purpose in Christ. Before there was a world to break, God purposed a world to redeem. Before there was a law to expose sin, there was a promise to overcome sin. And before there was a people formed in time, there was a people chosen “in Him” before time. This is why the Bible can speak in two registers at once. In one register, God promises a covenant in the prophets—an “everlasting covenant,” a “new covenant,” a covenant of peace, forgiveness, and Spirit-wrought obedience. In the other register, the apostles speak of grace “given… in Christ Jesus before times eternal,” and of an “eternal purpose” accomplished in Christ. The Eternal Covenant is the meeting of those two registers: th...

Spirit of Life

" Indeed, the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus liberates from the law of sin and death ." 1 This word for liberates "I free, set free, liberate" is from a root word meaning free, exempt, not bound by an obligation. As partakers of God's divine nature, being born of Spirit, we are no longer obligated to the sinful nature but to righteousness which is God's nature. When we believe we receive the Spirit of promise, a guarantee of our inheritance, a great testimony that we are His children, it is a Spirit of Life. " Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." 24 The Son came not to condemn the world but to save it. "One trespass   led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. " 6 " He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and wa...

Lord, Stand By Me

"... present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness ." 1 This word for present means "I bring, present, come up to and stand by," it is parístēmi (from pará, "from close-beside" and hístēmi, "to stand") – properly, stand close beside, i.e. ready to present (exhibit). I pray Lord stand by me which expresses that I put my trust in Him, or I come up to and stand by Him. We use phrases like surrendering or bowing at the cross to explain such a moment, surely it is a coming to the end of ourselves and it is desirable that I find His will acceptable, but it is important to understand that it is about trust, not my will power, the key is that it is in Christ. The terminology the scriptures use is "present yourselves to God," or come up to and stand by and walk with Him. "... present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this...

The Church as Glory and Joy: Paul's Vision of Ministry Reward

The Church as Glory and Joy: Paul’s Vision of Ministry Reward A Theological Essay on Ministry, Servant Leadership, and the True Reward of Equipping the Saints Introduction Distortion of scripture is nothing new, Peter himself warned that Paul’s letters were being twisted even in the first century—some “distort” them, as they do “the other Scriptures” (2 Peter 3:16). Paul likewise warned that distortions would arise from within the church, with people speaking “twisted things” to draw disciples after themselves (Acts 20:29–30). And when the subject turns to money, the New Testament is especially direct. Paul cautions against those who imagine “godliness” as a means of gain (1 Timothy 6:5) and insists that gospel ministry must not be peddled for profit (2 Corinthians 2:17). Peter adds that false teachers exploit others “in their greed” (2 Peter 2:3), and Jude warns of those who “abandoned themselves for the sake of gain” (Jude 11). Paul also wrote some “teach… for shameful gain” ...

All Who Are Thirsty

“ Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;  and he who has no money,  come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk  without money and without price.  Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,  and your labor for that which does not satisfy?  Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,  and delight yourselves in rich food. .." (Isaiah 55). " Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price ." Buy is defined as to acquire the ownership of by giving an accepted price or consideration therefore; to accept or believe as true .[ 1 ] When we buy something we consider the price that we must pay, we accept this and purchase the thing we have considered worthy of the sacrifice we make in payment. W e can not buy, with money or price, redemption from t his tragic flaw we are born into. However Jesus paid the price for us, so we buy or accept through consideration, the Greek word is  logizomai.[ 2] ...

The Promises of God — The Promise of Eternal Life

There is such a great promise of eternal life to the elect, through faith and knowledge of truth, "to the extent of the hope of eternal life, which God can not lie, promised before times eternal. Now, brought to light in his word at his own timing..." (Titus 1:2) Before time began God made a promise, established it on his oath,  there being nothing greater to  establish it on, but accordingly to  his purpose by which he can not lie.  "just as he chose us in him before creation of the world to exist holy and blameless in his presence in love predestining us for adoption as his own through Jesus Christ..." (Ephesians 1:4-5).    For those chosen this promise is very precious and honorable and effective. It is a promise that God will always be with us even to the end of the age. It is a promise he is working out all for good to those called according to His purpose. The promise is fulfilled through "predestinating us for adoption"  and adoption is of the S...

Lead Me in the Way Everlasting

Lead Me in the Way Everlasting The Eternal Covenant way fulfilled in Christ and walked in the New Living Way of the Spirit The “way everlasting” is the Eternal Covenant way: the path God purposed before time and enacted in Christ, by which He leads His people through the indwelling Spirit into a Christ-formed life that endures—where the heart is searched, the flesh is denied, and the evil one is overcome by abiding in the word of God. See “The Promises of God — The Promised Eternal Covenant” . The “Way Everlasting” as a Biblical Category Scripture speaks of a “way” not merely as a direction but as a manner of life —a path a person walks, a pattern that governs what they become. When David prays, “Lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:24), he is asking for more than guidance on a decision. He is asking to be brought into a God-led way of being that does not collapse under pressure, time, or deception. This is why the phrase “everlasting” matters. David is longing for a way that en...
